How I Became a Content Writer?
Life can be pretty unpredictable. Such cliche words. No? Well, what to do? This is precisely what comes to my mind when I recall and reflect upon the chain of events that have taken place in the last few years. I had never imagined that I would get into writing someday. But here I am! Writing advertisements, product descriptions, SEO pages, blog pages, and what not?
I have always been an avid reader since my childhood. However, do not have any misconception that I used to read all those classic novels of English literature or any big fat book containing varied pieces of knowledge of this universe. No, I never did that. I only read what was in my school curriculum and nothing outside that. For me, it was a waste of time. Why? I will share that in some other post.
However, the point is that I started reading for the sake of reading after I finished school and entered college. That's when I started reading, and thanks to one of my mentors, I learned how to read. Earlier I used to read for the purpose of understanding and recall. With my mentor's intervention, I learned to read for the sake of not only understanding things but also analyzing and, most importantly, critiquing them. And this proved to be the first step toward my writing journey.
Writing is About Creation. Of what?
Creation of New Thoughts Via New Texts.
You can create new texts only when you know how to analyze, criticize and transcend the boundaries of existing texts. That is precisely what I learned in my college days and accordingly, began to write academic papers.
However, this was not writing for the sake of writing. This was for scoring good grades and getting qualified to pursue my further studies-my childhood dream. I know, quite weird! But I admit that I was a nerd.
Nevermind! So, as per my plans, I enrolled for a master's degree and, as usual, got lost in the land of academic books and papers. However, the universe had some other plans. One night I had chronic abdomen pain, and voila! I was diagnosed with Acute Pancreatitis with Gall Bladder Stones, Jaundice and Diabetes. I had only 10 percent survival chances, and everything around me was going hither and thither. I had to leave my course, and then I was stuck at my home for one year, not forgetting the COVID pandemic.
So, what to do, now? I don't have a career. My studies have gone haywire. I can't go out. And most importantly, I have lost my health. How good is that?
But they say hope is the only driving force that keeps you alive, and I truly believe in these words. Motivation is the only thing you need to drive yourself from the toughest of situations. And my motivation was that crippling feeling I had because of my fragile health. That crippling feeling was the push I needed to help myself instead of waiting for my sleeping Fortuna to wake up.
"God helps who help themselves." That is precisely what happened to me. I enrolled myself in several internships and job search platforms, and it was by sheer luck that a company hired me without even taking care of my lack of experience in the field. I began as a writing intern, and the more articles I wrote, I realized that I liked writing and was excelling at it with each article. Besides that, the job gave me ample satisfaction as I learning new things everyday.
Yes, there were challenges as I had to meet the deadlines and some of the topics used to be really frustrating, but I managed somehow because I loved what I did. Content writing soon turned into one of my passions and eventually, I began to widen my horizons. From writing niche content for the profits of my first organization, I started venturing into the field of B2B services, company landing pages, SEO pages, blogs, social media marketing posts, product descriptions in e-commerce, quotes, poems, and essays.
After making this long voyage of two years, here I am, with my own blog-writing for myself, writing for you!
